On June 20, 1997, this was the web site of one of the most ASTONISHING MIRACLES of our age. Vera Fortney, a humble system administrator, was attempting to resurrect a crashed server. The situation was hopeless...when suddenly, as Vera watched the screen in astonishment and wonder, an image of Our Blessed Virgin appeared right here on this page - and instantly the server was restored!Amid the fragrance of spring blossoms and the sweet sound of heavenly choirs, the Blessed Virgin instructed Vera that She would appear again exactly one year later, at which time great signs and wonders would befall servers of the developed nations, and there will be great rejoicing among all the coders thereof. As Vera fell reverently to her knees, the image vanished from the page.
Vera went immediately to her parish priest, who, concerned about cheap sensationalism, instructed her to keep silent. However, somehow word of the event leaked out. Already hundreds of devout system administrators have made pilgrimages to the site. Some claim to have been miraculously cured of crashed disks, blown video cards, leaky RAM, unregulated power supplies, line spikes, fatal viruses, obnoxious crackers, and buggy code, merely by accessing this page.
We, a lay group calling ourselves Friends of Vera, have vowed to maintain this site in anticipation of the return of Our Blessed Lady one year from 20 June 1997. Meanwhile some visitors have asked if they could leave the patches and workarounds they needed before their systems were healed, as witness to the miraculous events that have taken place, and continue to take place, here. We are in process of constructing a Memorial Grotto just off this page where prosthetic hardware and bad code discarded in joyful thanks can be displayed for the instruction of the unfaithful.
The Vatican, in its narrow-mindedness, is already threatening excommunication. Visions, conservative clerics have told the press, do not happen, particularly on web pages. We reject this callow denial of a living, breathing human's personal experience.
